Okanagan sun works on bare wood every day.

Grey does not always mean worn out. See how bare cedar changes with exposure and a fresh finish.

  1. New

Fresh cedar is warm and orange. That colour lives in the top layer of the wood.

  2. First summer

Sun breaks down that top layer. The boards go pale and dry, and water starts to soak in.

  3. A few summers in

Rain washes the loose fibres away. What is left turns grey and small cracks open along the grain.

  4. Restored

We wash off the grey, let the wood dry and stain it. The grain comes back, and the stain takes the sun from then on.

Common questions.

When is staining season in the Okanagan?

Roughly April to October. Stain needs dry wood and mild, dry weather, so the first and last weeks of the season move with the spring and fall. Over the winter we book visits and plan spring work.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. For deck, fence and pergola staining you can see a price range online without giving any contact details. The on-site visit is free too, and the firm quote it produces is yours to accept or not. The Maintenance Plan is priced at the visit, and pre-staining per order.

Do you stain pergolas?

Yes, attached or freestanding, on their own or with a deck. They get the same prep as a deck and any of our four finishes.

Where do you work?

Kelowna, West Kelowna, Lake Country, Peachland, Summerland, Vernon and Penticton. We are based in Kelowna. If you are somewhere else, enter your town in the estimate and we will tell you whether we can reach you.

Ready when you are.
